Less than two weeks after Stardust Power Inc. broke ground on its lithium refinery in Muskogee, Okla., Sumitomo has entered into a preliminary agreement to acquire 80% of the battery-grade lithium carbonate to be produced at the strategically located American Heartland battery materials plant.

Stardust Power officially started on-site construction operations at its $1.2 billion lithium refinery in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. Along with officials representing Stardust Power, Oklahoma’s Lieutenant Governor, Matt Pinnell was present at this groundbreaking event.

On Wednesday, representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce were on hand in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to celebrate the groundbreaking of one of the largest lithium refineries in the country.
Stardust Power officially broke ground on January 22, 2025, on its lithium refinery at the Southside Industrial Park in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Senior officials from Stardust Power, Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell, and the Mayor of Muskogee, Patrick Cale, were present at the ceremony, along with other state and local officials.
